A typical mainframe environment contains like other computers it executes business applications and system software and can use multiple processors (CPU) and specialized processors,
- High-speed memory for running applications and operating-system workloads.
- We ca use Large-scale disk and tape storage.
- Often used for databases, transaction records, backups, and historical data.
- We can do Batch- (A job processes data without continuous user interaction) vs Online Processing – (Users or applications send requests and receive responses immediately-ATM)
- Operating systems like z/OS – IBM's primary enterprise mainframe OS, z/VM , z/VSE Linux on IBM Z
- In the middleware side , CICS – transaction processing , IMS – database and transaction management, WebSphere – application middleware
- In the Database side, IBM Db2, IMS databases , Other databases can also run on mainframes.
- Main Programming languages are COBOL- Business application programming, JCL- Defines and executes batch jobs, CICS- Online transaction processing, DB2- Relational database, IMS- Database and transaction processing, VSAM- File/data storage, RACF- Security and access control, z/OS- Mainframe operating system, TSO/ISPF- Interactive mainframe development/administration, REXX-Scripting/automation.

Proficient in Solution Implementation Cycle involving Business Requirement Study & Problem Identification (AS IS), Technology Research for Product/Service selection as Solution Design (TO BE); Stake Holder Coordination for Acceptance of Solution; Risk Identification & Mitigation; Change/Configuration Management & Solution Implementation; CT, CIT, SAT, UAT, Training & Support.
Competent in all phases of Software Development Life Cycle including Analysis & Study of Business Requirements, Technical & Functional Specifications, Data/Interface/Process Design, Module/Interface Development, Testing, Integration, Implementation along with Service Support.
